Summary
Flacourtia indica is a small tree or shrub native to Africa and Asia. It invades disturbed areas, forest edges or clearings. It can form dense stands limiting the regeneration of native species. Its seeds are dispersed by birds but also by small mammals. On the island of Réunion, the species is cryptogenic (origin uncertain). It is naturalized in low altitude rainforests and regarded as a major invasive plant.
